A chevron pattern has a straight seam between the two halves of the pattern, with each plank terminating at a point. A herringbone pattern is made from square end planks which alternate, leaving a perpendicular zig-zag pattern at the ends.
It's easy to confuse a chevron pattern with a herringbone pattern, but the easy way to tell the different is:

There are many ways to add additional detail and interest to a hardwood floor. Wood flooring that incorporates a chevron pattern is dramatic and makes you lean in. Like a herringbone, opting for shorter planks in a pattern such as these often creates a wider variety of visual appeal from the randomness of color tones and character, particularly with reclaimed wood.
A chevron pattern is just as desirable in new wood floors like in our French Oak with a custom finish. When you use a newly harvested wood such as this, along with a custom finish, the result is far more consistency in color and character than in a reclaimed wood floor. This doesn't mean the visual appeal is any less. What results is an extremely refined, elegant look.
